READING IS FUNDAMENTAL (RIF) - Stockton Branch coordinates the distribution of thousands of new books to elementary school children in several schools from funds raised locally and from matching funds. For many children, a book received though the RIF program is the first book they will ever own.

HOME TOUR - The Stockton Branch annual Home Tour features outstanding homes in the community. The Home Tour is a well-loved community event that is also our major branch fund raiser to benefit the AAUW Educational Foundation (EF), our local scholarship program and other branch programs. This year's very Home Tour will be held on November 2, 2008. For more information, please contact us.

MENTOR PROGRAM - Individually and in groups, Branch mentors provide local high school girls with leadership, support and information. Community members who have information of interest to share with the girls are invited to join the monthly meetings.

LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Stockton Branch awards several scholarships annually to San Joaquin Delta College female graduates transferring to a four-year college. Scholarship applicants must apply directly through the Delta College financial aid office.

"REAL WOMEN" ESSAY CONTEST - To commemorate women's history month in March, local high school students write about the achievements of women they have known. Entry forms and flyers containing the criteria are available at the beginning of each school year. Authors of winning essays receive monetary awards at our March branch meeting, and their essays are published in the local newspaper, The Record.

EDUCATIONAL ISSUES - This group provides information and/or develops Branch projects on timely educational equity issues such as gender equity, sexual harassment in the schools, and curriculum restructuring.

PUBLIC POLICY - Consistent with AAUW's public policy principles, branch members contact elected representatives and the media, are involved in nonpartisan election activities, and sponsor issue forums. Become a Two-Minute Activist by clicking on the link on our site home page.

INTERNATIONAL INTERESTS - AAUW belongs to the International Federation of University Women (IFUW).

TECH TREK MATH AND SCIENCE CAMP - Seventh-grade girls are selected through an application and interview process to attend AAUW's math and science camp at a major university for one week during the summer. For more information about Tech Trek, see the AAUW-CA site at www.aauw-ca.org or contact us!

BRIDGE TOURNAMENT - Branch member bridge players and other friends compete to benefit the AAUW Educational Foundation.

AFFILIATIONS - Stockton Branch is affiliated with many community organizations, including: San Joaquin County Commission on the Status of Women; League of Women Voters; Stockton Women's Network; Edison Health Center; Stagg Healthy Start Program; Planned Parenthood; PFLAG-Stockton; The LINKS, Inc., Stockton; Children's Museum of Stockton (visit the Stockton Branch exhibit at the museum!); St. Mary's Interfaith Dining Room; Expanding Your Horizons Conference; Library Literacy Program (our branch competes annually in the Stockton Library Trivia Bee).
