AAUW: The American Association of University Women promotes equity for all women and girls, lifelong education, and positive societal change. The AAUW's Educational Foundation funds research, community projects, and fellowships and grants for outstanding women. The AAUW's Legal Advocacy Fund provides funds and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination in higher education. STOCKTON BRANCH: Founded in 1928, California's Stockton Branch has approximately 210 members. We raise funds for the AAUW's Educational Foundation and Legal Advocacy Fund. On behalf of AAUW, we are involved in many community activities. We speak out on public policy issues such as educational equity, civil rights and equity in the work place, reproductive choice and health care. We have many interest groups for members with common interests. Stockton Branch is a multi-year recipient of the Association's Platinum Award under the Century 21 Branch Recognition Program. INVOLVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES: Stockton Branch members may be as active as they wish by attending branch meetings, working on committees, participating in interest groups, and helping with fund raisers. We offer a balance of activities that combine fun, friendship, learning, and advocacy. Our monthly newsletter, the Delta Steamer, is sent to each member. All members also receive the AAUW magazine, Outlook. MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY: AAUW membership is open to women and men who hold an associate or equivalent, or a baccalaureate degree from accredited universities or colleges. Those who are working toward a baccalaureate degree may become student affiliates. In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability.
